Don’t think there is a right or wrong. Each to their own.
I remain with it, because I am convinced that it can a) develop me an audience in which I can sell my work to and b) that this audience appreciate the human side of our business, the real ‘us’. But I have no proof to back up whether it pays off or not to be honest…and it does come with a lot of BS.
I don’t support a family, but can barely support myself some months, so I total echo your point that focusing on the more influential inputs in so beneficial to startups.
